Unit Commander

Mr. Mark McCain was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin and moved to Arizona with his family in 1986. He joined the Department of Corrections in 1997., retired May 2018. He has held the following positions in Corrections: Correction Officer I, Correctional Officer II, Correctional Officer III, Correctional Officer IV, Sergeant, and Investigator III.  Mr. McCain joined the Desert Young Marines in the 2009, he has since had three sons and a daughter in the Desert Young Marines. Currently has had three sons graduate the program one in the process of being a Phoenix Fire FIghter, aone  going to college to become a Veterinarian and the third has a carreer as a Dafter working for Intel. He has one child left in the program, who is now in high school. He enjoys helping the youth and has been volunteering his time to youth programs through the Cities of Glendale, Avondale and Phoenix Youth Sports Program as a coach for T-ball, Coach Pitch, Little League, Soccer and Hockey. Mr. McCain enjoys all sports, fishing, boating, golfing, photography and just spending time with his family and friends. He enjoys watching the youth in the program grow and become successful citizens and some go into the military.

 Mrs. Liza McCain, was born and raised in Arizona joined the Desert Young Marines in the 2009, he has since had three sons and a daughter in the Desert Young Marines. Currently has had three sons graduate the program and a daughtero srtill in the Young Marines Although never joined the military, has military knowledge from High School were she was the Battalian Commander for 2 years at Central High School and in the program for 4 years and participated in the Rifle Team, Ranger Team and With and Without Arms Drill Teams. Mrs. McCain enjoys helping the kids learn to become better citizens, responsable young adults and instill team work and leadership.
