Young Marines’ Robert Borka Named Chief Operating Officer of the Marine Corps League
Wednesday, June 28, 2017

Robert BorkaRobert Borka, former director of operations of the Young Marines, a national youth organization, is embarking on a new position as the chief operating officer of the Marine Corps League, effective Monday, July 3.

“While we will miss Bob’s tremendous talent, we are excited to see him join the Marine Corps League leadership team,” said Col William P. Davis USMC (Ret), national executive director and CEO of the Young Marines. “We will be able to continue our great partnership, and we wish Bob all the best in his new duties.”

Borka, a business executive with almost 30 years of management experience, joined the Marine Corps League in 1995 upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps as a Cryptologic Technician (2651)/SSO. He transferred to the Flint Detachment #155 (Michigan) as a Life Member.

As a volunteer with the Young Marines from 2006 to 2014, he earned the Lifetime Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

He served the Young Marines as unit commander, battalion commander, regimental adjutant, division adjutant, and assistant division commander. Borka served on the board of directors of the Young Marines as treasurer, vice chairman, and as part of several committees. In 2014, Young Marines National Headquarters brought him on full time as the director of operations.

"Bob Borka can tackle any management challenge,” said William Smith, president of the board of directors of the Young Marines. “He has experience at both board and corporate operating levels, an inexhaustible work ethic, and he consistently applies traditional leadership traits and principles. Our loss is a gain for the overall Marine Corps League / Young Marine team effort."

Borka received a bachelor of arts degree in Organizational Management from the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Prior to his position at Young Marines National Headquarters, he was the executive director for a global facilities support services company where he had been employed since 1998.

Borka and his family live in Dumfries, Virginia. His wife, Patricia, is the director of administration at Young Marines National Headquarters. The couple has three children. Both Patricia and Robert are members of the Chapel of Four Chaplains.
